Limestone Public Works Dept News

Town of Limestone Public Works Department Monthly Report

As usual it has been another busy month at Public Works with new changes.
* First we saw the departure of Derek Patten a 5 year employee of the department.
* Justin and I continue to carry on the work load patching roads and fighting the high humidity.
* On the rainy days we have been getting equipment painted and ready for whiter weather.
* Larger projects are on hold until 2 new employees get hired.
* We still have many tasks to get accomplished and will be fighting the calendar for time.
I want to thank you all for your patience with us at Public Works.
Thanks,
Jim Pelletier, Public Works Director

MSSM Key Club

MSSM Key Club – A Limestone, ME community service club under Kiwanis International.

The Key Club does a variety of projects and activities throughout the year including fundraisers for different charities and service projects around Limestone and the MSSM dorm. We organize blood drives with the Red Cross on a regular basis which are held in the LCS auditorium. We do trips to Catholic Charities in Caribou, the animal shelter, and the homeless shelter in Presque Isle on different weekends. Some of our larger projects that we have done every year are Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, the March of Dimes, a “Giving Tree” where students can take tags off of a Christmas tree that assign them to purchase different items for the homeless shelter (shampoo, toothpaste, etc), and Sleep-in-a-box, where students volunteer to sleep outside in a cardboard box for a night to raise awareness for homelessness. We are also the ‘go-to’ for our school if they need help for tasks, such as painting a sports shed or helping to clean up after an event.

We are here to help people, even if it’s just raking leaves from their lawn. We’re to help the people of Limestone in any way we can.

The best way to contact the club would be either through Charlotte McCulloh, via email at mccullohc@mssm.org or through their advisor, Millie Rhodes, at rhodes.millie@mssm.org. They check their  email frequently throughout the day and make a habit of responding ASAP.
