Elliott states by statute must have a charter and the town does not so it has been dropped.6. TIF information — School tax sheltering. Elliott states because of the sheltered mode, has no effect on school funding.7. Budget Workshop — Everyone has packet 7 revision. Superintendent Bill Dobbins introduces the school budget and highlights the 5 categories that are increasing the school budget for next year.1) Special Education, IEP, out of school education, OT/PT. 2) Increase in secondary education tuition and count $800,000, 3)Flow through Funds, 4)Electricity, 5)TransportationC School Committee welcomes all questions. Budget Committee is also present. Questions about line items combined, using "miscellaneous" account, if they could reduce their budget, the numbers in the budget for specific lines including insurance increases, the amount of covid money received and the items they spent it on. All questions were answered. Concerns from the selectboard about the amount of money and mil rate increase from it and that it might not pass at the town meeting. Labreck asked for a motion, Pelletier made a motion to approve the 23/24 proposed budget and Durepo 2 nd . No further discussion. 3 in favor 1 opposed. Motion carried. The current year has not been added up yet.-There is an abatement needed on a parcel not previously identified with original portion of a property in the amount of -$54.50. The town needs to cancel previous TIF at end of June or have a special town meeting with article. Loring would just be a holding spot. There is a government program that allows this we would need to write a letter of support.-The date for applying for Town Manager has closed and discussion on whether there should be no closing date until town manager is hired.
